Ruth Vaughan-Henry

Ruth started to work with horses at the age of fifteen, following a passion which began when she learned to ride aged seven. Her main interest has always been in bring on young horses which she did for many years whilst also teaching people of all abilities to ride.

In 1988 she stopped working full time with horses - to make some money! She then moved into sales. Ruth has worked for a numbers of companies including Mary Kay cosmetics. For the last 10 years has worked as an independent consultant for a company based in Wiltshire who offer Business Management systems to SMEs worldwide.  She sells the company's services to businesses in the North of Scotland and delivers internal auditing courses.

Although no longer working with horses full time, Ruth's passion has never gone away and she has continues to teach on a part-time basis. It was on a business trip to South Carolina in 2000, that she attended a seminar given by Pat Parelli, an exponent of Natural Horsemanship.  This changed her way of thinking and she decided to study and learn about the psychology of horses and how to work with them naturally.

She shares this knowledge through her business ‘Horsemanship Solutions', offering help to people who believe they have behavioural problems with their horses or who need more confidence in handling and riding them.  In 2007 she was asked to work with some wild Highland ponies and in September spent two weeks in Kenya teaching natural horsemanship clinics for the local riding and pony clubs.

She also finds time to compete with her own horse Raincloud, whom she has successfully trained for dressage whilst using natural horsemanship methods and principals combined with classical training.

Ruth brings both business and horse skills to the red horse speaks and is especially interested in working with disadvantaged young people.
